City Summer School starting 9th July 2012 – 1 week

It is getting more and more difficult for young people to get a real feel of the world of work.  Prospects in the City have been taking young people into the City of London for their highly successful City Walks programme and last year devised a one week interactive programme for Years 10,11,12 and 13  students focusing on occupational areas that are traditionally very difficult to find work experience in – such as finance, law and media.

During the week we aim to give young people an insight into the work of different organisations, through on-site tours and speakers from a variety of companies such as Lloyds of London, Bloomberg, London Metal Exchange and many others.

The week is fully accompanied by trained careers advisers and there is an opportunity to put all of these experiences into practice at the end of the week when these advisers can help with CV preparation, interview techniques and higher education information – such as personal statements for UCAS.  Lunch is included each day at the different venues. The cost is £250.00 plus vat.

What the students previously attended said:

“I wanted to thank you for a wonderful week! I have learnt a lot, and have a better idea of the direction in which I want to go.” Kasturi Shah, The Cheltenham Ladies College

I thought that Lloyds was interesting as well and I am really pleased I came. The week has been very helpful because I now know how and what to write in a CV and what kind of Career path I should take.”  Jonathon Welch, Student

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Experience of Work Week in the City and I feel that it was of real benefit to her – far more useful to her than a traditional work experience placement! It opened her eyes to worlds she knew nothing about and has kickstarted her thinking about her future career plans. I was delighted that it raised her career aspirations and it was wonderful to see her confidence grow throughout the week.A worthwhile investment.” Parent of year 11 student from Wilmington Grammar School for Girls, Kent.
